Mission Statement
We value our commitment to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith. We believe in maintaining connections to the community of the church through our participation in activities that bind the members of our church family. We see the value of education and spiritual growth in our Presbyterian heritage. We support the Evangelical Mission of the church. We value the diversity within our congregation and community. In our dealings with others in the larger church community and the world at large, we value honesty, integrity, respect for all individuals, and open communication.

We will minister to those who are in need.

• Maintain the prayer chain and assure that the congregation is aware of how it works.
• Sponsor a series on dealing with loss and grief.
• Maintain contact with our assigned families and provide service and support to them as needed.
• Make copies of the sermons available to people who would like to have them.  
• Coordinate special events.

We will provide opportunities for education and spiritual growth, and knowledge of our Presbyterian heritage. Possibilities could include any of the following:

• Attend or sponsor a class to become more knowledgeable about the Book of Confessions and Book of Order.
• Hold a retreat for Deacons  
• Invite a speaker for the Deacons
• Attend a PACT training  
• Budget funds within the Deacons funds to pay for any educational materials used by Deacons as part of their ministry.  

We will encourage the people of Peace to maintain connections to the community of the church.

• Encourage maintenance of  a Book of Memorial Contributions for historical purposes.
• Encourage the people of Peace to make connections and form the relationships that will help bind them to the church. (The Pastor will advise Deacons when to add someone new to the list.)

We will participate in church activities and support the participation of all members.

• Identify skills, talents, needs, and abilities of the People of Peace
• Show Deacon support of church sponsored activities through our assistance and attendance.
• Invite people to join us when we attend or participate in church activities.

We will facilitate the participation of individuals with physical, sensory, or mental differences in church events.

• Have a wheelchair available upon request for church activities.
• Respond to individual needs for transportation.
• Provide large print bulletins and hymn books.  
• Advocate for those with special needs.
